This Week I Learned #2

This week I have realized that people only want you when its convienent to them. When you have something to offer them or they have something to gain from you. This brilliant and completely new discovery (sarcasm) came to me when I was slapped in the face with it. I was forced to realize that people aren't who we think they are and really only look out for themselves. My discovery led me to notice that people in my life only used my friendship as a way to achieve their true motives. And honestly that sucks. Its terrible knowing that you are only around to provide for them. Its in that moment when you realize how utterly stupid you were for thinking that you were actually wanted. 

But here's the thing. It doesn't matter if they want you. It doesn't matter if they're just using you. In the moment it seems like your life is ruined, you feel useless and used and mistreated and lied to. And all of those feelings are called for. You have a right to feel that way. But if you take a second to really process it without your emotions blocking you you can realize it's a good thing. The people who use and abuse you in your life don't deserve you. YOU CAN DO BETTER. If someone believes its okay to mistreat you, get rid of that negative influence. You deserve so much better. 

This week I was shown how easy it is to use someone and how much it hurts to be that someone. When you're being used you don't even notice, you're just thankful for the companionship but when they leave the void they create is too large for you to try to fill with anything else. You think that hole will be there forever. But I'm here to tell you that's not true. 

When people mistreat you, know God never will. When people leave you, know that God never will. He is always on your side and with you always. So when I say you deserve better, turn to Him, because He is better. As a matter of fact, He is the best. Get rid of the negativity and the people bringing you down and turn to God. 

This week I learned people suck, but our God doesn't.

WITH vs IN

As I have grown up I have often noticed that people, including myself, tend to be different people for different situations. And while sometimes this makes sense, for example you can't quote The Office in a business meeting like you would if you're with friends, other times it doesn't. Sometimes it does more harm than good. As a Christian I experience this often. People who think they need to be one thing in order to be good enough for God.  PLOT TWIST: God loves the weak and the broken. 2 Corinthians 12:9-10 says " But he said to me,  “My grace  is sufficient for you, for my power  is made perfect in weakness. ”  Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.   That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight  in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions,  in difficulties. 2/14 Haters? This is for you.

Valentine’s Day is honestly the worst. It is expensive, excessive, and obnoxious. Maybe I’m just incredibly cynical and maybe one day when I am with the person of my dreams I will have a completely different opinion, but as of now I am not a fan. Only showing love on one day seems strange, it’s odd that people wait until February 14th to show their significant other just how grand they are. The bears and chocolate and flowers, all pretty over the top am I right? And all for one day!! I feel like the reason I am such a critic is because I know what true love is.
