what is love?

Love is patient, love is kind, love does not boast, love does not envy.
We hear these things and we all agree and say that it is true, yet we do not apply it to our own lives. Our generation thinks love is sex, sending pictures, having the hottest significant other, texting 24/7.

THAT IS NOT LOVE.

If you only love him person when you're kissing him, you don't love him. If you only want her when she wants someone else, you don't freaking love her. If him yelling at the wall doesn't make you want to hold his fists so he doesn't start to throw punches, you're not in love with him. If the only words you use to describe her eyes are "ocean" or "pool blue" you don't love her. If you think you can accurately describe him at all you don't love him. If his white knuckles on the steering wheel don't make your stomach turn and feel alive all at once, you don't love him. If her voice doesn't replace the silent ringing in your ears when you're alone, you don't love her. If you only find her attractive when shes not dressed, you don't love her.

Love isn't what you can get out of that person, but what you can do for them. Love is not selfish and going into relationships with others with a selfish state of mind leads to disaster. Love is not easily angered, love defies anger. Love should never put you in a situation you are not comfortable with. Love should not push you to do things you do not want to do.

If you think you love someone, but you love them because of how they look or the things they do, then you need to reevaluate. You should love others because of their mind, their soul, their beliefs, their kindness, not their body and physical aspects.

Love is patient. Love is kind. Love does not boast. Love does not envy.
